The Flin Flon Bombers are looking ahead to their main camp, scheduled to begin Thursday, September 3 at the Whitney Forum.

Flin Flon slo-pitch hosted teams from The Pas and Easterville over the weekend, awarding $3,000 in prizes to the top teams. The Evil Marsupials took the A-side final over The Pas’ Paperworks Pounders in a mercy game of just five innings.

The Flin Flon Bombers will open the upcoming season the same way they’ll start it: with a tilt against the Nipawin Hawks. The SJHL last week unveiled the league schedule for the 2015-16 season.

Another season has come and gone for the Phantom Lake Soccer Club with the final tournament being held at the end of June. Teams from Division 2 through 4 competed in a one-day tournament at the Creighton Community Soccer Field on June 27.

Dart player Rory Orvis, the 2015 Flin Flon Open Men’s Singles champion, racked up another title last weekend. Orvis, who lives in Kinosota, Manitoba, defeated Canadian national champion Dave Cameron to become the 2015 Canadian Open Champion.

The Flin Flon Bombers will welcome 1998-born forward Brandon Lesko to the lineup for the 2015-16 season.

It was no surprise to the athletes, teachers and families as five names were called out for the biggest awards of the evening at Hapnot Collegiate’s Athletic Banquet.

The Hapnot Collegiate Kopper Kings and Kweens earned medals and personal bests at this year’s track and field provincials.

The Flin Flon Lightning girls’ U-12 soccer team went undefeated in the Harder Avalon Classic Soccer Tournament to earn the gold in division three.
