The Flin Flon Bombers will open the upcoming season the same way they’ll start it: with a tilt against the Nipawin Hawks.
The SJHL last week unveiled the league schedule for the 2015-16 season.
The Bombers will open their 56-game campaign in Nipawin on Friday, September 18. The following night, Saturday, September 19, they will host the Hawks for their home opener at the Whitney Forum.
Flin Flon will face Nipawin six times in all throughout the season, including both teams’ season-ender at the Whitney Forum on Tuesday, March 8. The Bombers will also face the defending league champion Melfort Mustangs six times beginning with Flin Flon’s third game of the season on Wednesday, September 23.
Flin Flon and La Ronge will have ample opportunity to amp up their rivalry with eight games on the docket. The Bombers will face the Ice Wolves more than any other team. Their first match-up is Tuesday, November 24 in
La Ronge. The Bombers will square off against the Battlefords North Stars on six occasions, the first being Saturday, October 3 in Flin Flon. Also facing Flin Flon six times are the Kindersley Klippers. They will meet for the first time on Friday, October 9 in Flin Flon and will be right back at it on Saturday, October 10, again at the Whitney Forum.
The Bombers will share the ice four times with each of the Melville Millionaires, Weyburn Red Wings and Notre Dame Hounds, the club that eliminated Flin Flon from the post-season in a heartbreaker last spring.
They will also face the Humboldt Broncos, Yorkton Terriers and Estevan Bruins four times apiece.
Flin Flon will play the bulk of its games on Fridays (18) and Saturdays (20). There are eight Tuesday games, six Wednesday games, three Thursday games and one Sunday game. There isn’t a single Monday contest.
The Bombers play four times in September, 11 times in October, 10 times in November and eight times in December. Their final game of 2015 is Sunday, December 20 in Kindersley.
Flin Flon kicks off 2016 on Tuesday, January 5 with a home match-up versus Yorkton. It’s one of 11 games in the month. The Bombers play another nine times in February and thrice in March before heading into (hopefully) the 2016 playoffs.
