The Reminder is a community newspaper serving the northern communities of Flin Flon, Creighton, Denare Beach, Cranberry Portage and Snow Lake. The newspaper was established in 1946 as The Flin Flon Daily Reminder. The Reminder is published from our Flin Flon office once a week, hitting newsstands every Wednesday. As an award-winning newspaper, The Reminder has grown to become the most trusted local news provider in the area. Our success is owed to our dedicated and experienced staff and our long-standing tradition of community-minded journalism.
From 2003 to 2015, the Reminder published Cottage North, a free bimonthly lifestyle magazine that is distributed to communities throughout northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Other special publications include an annual glossy tourism guide, a Flin Flon Bombers edition, a local service directory and multiple special inserts and sections each year.
About Flin Flon
The City of Flin Flon is a mining community located on the border of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, about 766 km from Winnipeg. Nestled atop and between rocky hills rich with zinc and copper ore, Flin Flon has been a vibrant and active northern community since the Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting Company (now Hudbay) founded it in 1927. Sitting at over 5,000 residents, Flin Flon has a variety of transportation, recreation and entertainment opportunities that also serve regional neighbours such as Creighton, Denare Beach and Cranberry Portage.
