Changes are in store at this year’s SJHL Showcase taking place in Warman, Saskatchewan, from Sunday, October 4 to Wednesday, October 7.

For the past few seasons, the Showcase has seen the league’s top prospects in each age category face off against each other in front of scouts from the NCAA, WHL and NHL.

This year’s Showcase will revive the previous format that sees teams play each other for points in the standings.

Flin Flon will play two games, one against the Weyburn Red Wings and the other against the Notre Dame Hounds.

Having aged out of the SJHL, former Flin Flon Bombers winger Parker Evans-Campbell will be playing NCAA hockey in Pennsylvania this season.

Evans-Campbell, 21, has committed to the Neumann University Knights men’s hockey team for the 2015-16 season.

“We’re really happy for Parker,” said Bombers head coach and GM Mike Reagan. “He’s a skilled guy that is going to fit in well at the university level, plus I really can’t say anymore about him as a person. He’s a great guy.”

Evans-Campbell played two full seasons in maroon and white, notching 21 goals and 47 assists for 68 points in 108 regular season games. He added four goals and four assists in 12 playoff matchups.

The Bombers acquired the High River, Alberta, native from the AJHL’s Drayton Valley Thunder in exchange for defenceman Dallen Hall.

Evans-Campbell is the fourth Bomber to move on to Neumann in the past decade.

Former Bombers bench boss Larry Wintoneak has joined the Kindersley Klippers as the strength and conditioning coach.

Wintoneak, who was head coach of the Klippers from 2006 to 2010, continues to live in Kindersley, where he owns and operates a fitness centre.

“I think Larry’s expertise, experience and credibility instantly changes the culture in our dressing room,” said current Klippers coach Rockie Zinger. “I expect him to bring the level of our off-ice commitment to another level. We are really thrilled to have Larry aboard. His personal commitment to the players is what we want our program to be about.”

Wintoneak spent five seasons as head coach of the Bombers. His tenure ended in 2001 following that year’s Royal Bank Cup tournament in Flin Flon.
