Two more victories leave Bombers undefeated at home

The Creighton Kodiaks are off to a strong start in their inaugural football season. The Kodiaks won their third game as they demolished the Sandy Bay Timberwolves 61-6 last Thursday evening, Sept 25.

The Flin Flon Bombers were in Melfort on Wednesday looking for their first road win of the season against the Mustangs.

The Hapnot Kings and Kweens both went undefeated in their respective soccer tournaments to bring home the first banners of the season. Both the Kings and Kweens travelled to Neepawa for a Sept. 12 tournament where they earned first place.

If you look at the attendance numbers from around the SJHL on opening weekend, you would think that hockey is alive and well in Flin Flon. After all, 1,226 people took in last Friday’s home opener.

It’s only two games into the four-game regular season, but the Creighton Kodiaks are proving their place, as they are top in the Eastern Division of the Northern Saskatchewan Football League. After two weekend games the Kodiaks remain undefeated.

This week is a busy one for the Flin Flon Bombers both on and off the ice. The team will play three games in four nights, starting with a road game in Melfort against the Mustangs tonight. They will return home for a pair of games this weekend.

SJHL opening weekend is in the books as the Flin Flon Bombers earned three out of a possible four points against the Nipawin Hawks. Over 1,200 fans took in the home opener at the Whitney Forum on Friday, where the Bombers beat the Hawks 3-2.

The Creighton Kodiaks continue to make history as they earned their first football win on home soil last week. Creighton Community School joined the Northern Saskatchewan Football League this year and remain undefeated with a perfect 2-0 record.
