It’s only two games into the four-game regular season, but the Creighton Kodiaks are proving their place, as they are top in the Eastern Division of the Northern Saskatchewan Football League.
After two weekend games the Kodiaks remain undefeated. They earned a 39-20 road win against Sandy Bay before devouring Cumberland House 51-14 on home turf.
Creighton’s two wins are made more impressive considering that this is the Kodiaks’ first season of football.
The six-man team leads the Eastern Division standings with four points overall. In regulation game time, the Kodiaks have picked up 90 points and given up 34.
Cumberland and Sandy Bay are tied with two points apiece, however Cumberland House sits in second place with 79 points earned in regulation time and 56 points given up.
Sandy Bay is close behind with 74 points for themselves and 58 points against them.
Lac La Ronge remains in last place of the Eastern Division standings with zero points recorded overall. In regulation time, Lac La Ronge has picked up 24 points, but given up 119.
In the Western Division, first-place Pinehouse is also leading the league with six points, but holds a game in hand over the Kodiaks. Creighton is second overall in the league of nine.
Creighton will host its second game of the season tomorrow. Sandy Bay will be looking for the win as the teams pair up for the second time this year.
