The waiting is over as another exciting season of Flin Flon Bombers hockey starts tonight. The Bombers will host the Hawks in the first game of a home-and-home series that concludes in Nipawin tomorrow.

I have been fortunate enough to hear former Toronto Argonauts coach and player Michael “Pinball” Clemons speak twice over the past four years.

The Flin Flon Bombers improved to 4-1-1 in the preseason after beating the Swan Valley Stampeders 5-2. Simon Hofley made 22 saves to earn the win for the Bombers last Friday, Sept. 12 in the final tune-up before the regular season.

The Flin Flon Bombers improved their preseason record to 3-2 with a 5-4 shootout win over the Nipawin Hawks on Tuesday. Dean Allison scored the winner in the sixth round of the shootout.

The Creighton Kodiaks will open up their volleyball season this weekend as they host the first tournament of the school year. The girls and boys teams will welcome their opponents to the Creighton Community School gymnasium, today and tomorrow.

The Hapnot Kopper Kings and Kweens have their athletics season underway. Athletes have hit the pitches for soccer as well as the greens for golf and the courts for volleyball.

September hockey might not be the most exciting action you are going to see during the year. In fact, it can be downright terrible at times.
