The Humboldt Broncos and Kindersley are tied for first place in the SJHL as teams break for Christmas. The last game before the holidays was played Dec. 21 as the Flin Flon Bombers dropped 5-2 to Kindersley.

The Flin Flon Bombers ended 2013 with two losses as they headed into the Christmas break. The Bombers gave up four points to the Kindersley Klippers on the road last weekend, Friday, Dec. 20 and Saturday, Dec. 21.

The Christmas season means one thing in the minds of hockey fans – the IIHF World Junior Championship. Preliminary games get underway on Boxing Day – Dec. 26 – as Canada will look to Germany. This year’s championships will take place in Sweden.

The SJHL continues to see teams in the CJHL standings. Last week was no exception as the Humboldt Broncos found themselves in ninth spot as the Yorkton Terriers dropped to 12th.

Cam Blair leads the Flin Flon Bombers in scoring as they head into their final two games before the Christmas break. Blair sat with eight goals and 14 assists – good for 22 points – in 19 games.

Due to the cold, cold weather at this year’s Winter Wonderland festival, a number of things were cancelled. It was too cold for the fireworks, but the Town of Creighton will still be setting them off. Fireworks will be set off at 6 p.m.

Devin Buffalo was among the top players of the week in the SJHL. The Flin Flon goaltender received top goaltender nods. Player of the Week Travis Mayan, Melfort Mustangs When he scores, they often come in bunches.

The Flin Flon Bombers split their final two road games of 2013, downing the Humboldt Broncos before losing to the Battlefords North Stars.
