The Bombers took on the Broncos Tuesday, earning a 2-1 shootout win, but lost 3-2 in another shootout the following night in Battlefords.
Tuesday marked Flin Flon’s second shootout win of the season while Wednesday’s loss was their fourth shootout of the season.
The Bombers split their their two games – as they have most of their back-to-back games this year. They have only been victorious back-to-back once this season.
Flin Flon travelled to Melville on Oct. 15 and defeated the Millionaires before earning a win against the Estevan Bruins the next night.
The Bombers have had 14 back-to-back contests this season.
The 2013 portion of the season isn’t over yet as the Bombers have another back-to-back series with the Kindersley Klippers tonight and tomorrow.
Tuesday saw no scoring in the first two periods between the Bombers and Broncos.
Humboldt opened the scoring in the final frame at 3:05, but Austin Calladine tied the game at 3:48 to send things into overtime.
A scoreless fourth period left led to a shootout. Flin Flon took the first shots of each round as Cam Blair started off the action but came up empty-handed.
The Broncos beat Devin Buffalo on their first attempt to make it 1-0.
Second goal
Flin Flon’s Calladine earned his second goal of the night as he, once again, tied things up.
Humboldt was then shutout, as was Bomber Dillan McCombie.
Both goaltenders stopped another set of shots as Flin Flon’s Parker Evans-Campbell was turned down.
Flin Flon’s Sam Williams picked up a big goal for the Bombers as he made it 2-1, giving the Broncos just one more chance to continue the shootout.
They weren’t up to the challenge as the Bombers picked up their second shootout victory of the season.
The 2-1 win gave the Bombers momentum heading into Battlefords the next night.
This time the Bombers opened the scoring in the first period with a marker from Paul Soubry at 15:24.
Flin Flon’s 1-0 lead turned into a 2-0 lead in the second period as Danys Chartrand picked up the team’s second goal at 9:56.
The second period also saw two more goals from the North Stars as they made it a 2-1 game at 15:02 and then tied things up at 19:00.
A scoreless third period sent the teams into overtime – a familiar place for the Bombers in their last few games.
After a scoreless overtime, the Bombers were back in a shootout.
The home team took the first shot of each round as both the Broncos and Bombers.
The Broncos couldn’t beat Buffalo in the second round, but Calladine was on fire with his second shootout goal in as many nights.
But the Broncos quickly tied it with a goal against Buffalo.
Williams was denied in the third round. The fourth round belonged to the goaltenders while the Broncos scored their second goal against Buffalo in the fifth round.
It was then up to AJ Kapcheck of the Bombers, but he couldn’t notch a tying marker. The Broncos won 3-2.
The Bombers and Klippers will face off tonight and tomorrow for Flin Flon’s last two games before the Christmas break.

A single win can move a team leaps and bounds in the new three-division set-up in the SJHL.
The Bombers were once ranked last in the Sherwood Division and then found themselves second as they defeated the Broncos 2-1 and remained there after Wednesday’s loss.
