Former Bomber Simon Hofley has notched his first career NCAA win. As the Bombers noted on their website, Hofley made 39 saves as his Canisius College Golden Griffins bested the Mercyhurst Lakers 4-3 on Nov. 20.

Ashton Sautner’s best gift of the year came after Christmas. The Flin Flon-born defenceman was called up from the minors to join the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks as a seventh defenceman on Sunday, Dec. 27.

Every Saturday morning at 8 am, a cluster of laughing, splashing women take over the Aqua Centre pool. They are the swimmers of the Aqua Doves Women’s Synchro Team, northern Manitoba’s first and only women’s synchronized swimming team.

The Frontier Collegiate Institute senior boys basketball team celebrated their win in the Kodiak Border Bash on Friday, Dec.11 and Saturday, Dec. 12. They beat Sandy Bay in the final 73-57.

This past week the Flin Flon Bombers went 3-1 while playing four road games in five days. At the SJHL Christmas break, the Bombers are now 18-13-0-4, good for fourth in the SJHL.

During the SJHL preseason, Greyson Reitmeier was taken aback when he was informed he was being traded from Melville to Flin Flon.

The University of Alberta – Augustana men’s hockey team will look a lot different next season when Flin Flon’s Tanner Korchinski is no longer in the lineup. The former Flin Flon Bombers blueliner is now in his fifth and final season with the Vikings.
