Former Flin Flon Bombers forward Jason Wark is enjoying his time playing in an Alberta arena while preparing for a outdoor career on the west coast.

Wark, who capped his junior career with the Bombers in 2013, is playing for the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology men’s hockey team.

The Campbell River, BC, product earned a business management diploma from NAIT last spring and is now studying forestry technology.

“I’ve always loved the outdoors,” Wark said. “Forestry is a huge industry with a lot of opportunities. I was born and raised on Vancouver Island. There’s a ton of forestry work out there, so it gives me a good reason to move back to the coast.”

On the ice, Wark has been enjoying his time at NAIT. He has been limited to eight games this season but helped NAIT win the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference last season.

Wark came to Flin Flon for 16 games in his 20-year-old season after previously playing in the BC Hockey League, Alberta Junior Hockey League, the North American Hockey League and the Junior B Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League.

“The people of Flin Flon where awesome! Staff, billets, players and the general public were all very welcoming,” Wark said. “Playing in front of the Flin Flon crowd is a great memory that I will never forget.”
