Leg warmers, bow ties and cowboy duds were just a few of the fashion choices as members of the Flin Flon Skating Club represented the past 75 years.

The Bombers held their awards banquet after the game on Saturday night. Chris Rauckman was the big winner, picking up three awards. Captain Dean Allison went home with two.

The Flin Flon Bombers eliminated the La Ronge Ice Wolves from playoff contention over the weekend, splitting the home and away series. The Ice Wolves won in La Ronge on Friday night but also needed to win in Flin Flon on Saturday to stay alive.

After 75 years, the Flin Flon Skating Club is still going strong. Hundreds of skaters and coaches have passed through the club since its launch under the direction of Beth Dike in 1938.

The Melfort Mustangs will take the number one seed into the SJHL Canalta Cup playoffs, clinching top spot Wednesday with a 5-0 victory in Yorkton. That will give Melfort home ice advantage for as long as they’re playing in this year's post-season.

The Flin Flon Lion Ls roar no more. The women’s service organization has quietly folded, ending a nearly 60-year legacy. “We just didn’t have the numbers anymore,” said long-time member Rena Poirier.

With one week to go in the SJHL season, the playoff picture is anything but clear. The Flin Flon Bombers, Nipawin Hawks and Notre Dame Hounds each have three games left. Nipawin and Flin Flon both trail the Hounds by three points.
