Melfort Mustangs clinch first place in SJHL

The Melfort Mustangs will take the number one seed into the SJHL Canalta Cup playoffs, clinching top spot Wednesday with a 5-0 victory in Yorkton. That will give Melfort home ice advantage for as long as they’re playing in this year's post-season.

The Mustangs ran their record to 38-7-3-6 on the year, and can still hit 40 wins in a 56-game schedule, with wins in their final two games against Nipawin this weekend.

fifth shutout, making
19 saves. 

Regan Wilton led the charge offensively with a goal and two assists. Landon Robin and David Heath each had a goal and an assist.

The Mustangs will play the lowest seeded winner of the Wildcard Series in the SJHL quarter-finals, with Game 1 at the Northern Lights Palace.
