Five local volleyball teams will hit the court to take part in tournaments this weekend. The Creighton Kodiaks’ junior volleyball boys’ and girls’ teams will host a tournament in Flin Flon and Creighton on Saturday.

The Flin Flon Bombers are coming home empty-handed after a 5-4 road loss to the Melfort Mustangs. Jason Lavallee and Greyson Reitmeier scored three points for the Bombers in the loss, while Mustangs Dakota Boutin and Wyatt Hinson scored twice.

Three local high school volleyball teams hit the road last weekend for tournaments. Hapnot Collegiate’s senior varsity Kings and Kweens teams travelled to Norway House for a pre-zone tournament on Oct. 28 and 29.

The Bombers took it to the reigning Canalta Cup champion Melfort Mustangs Wednesday night, beating them 6-3 at the Whitney Forum.

For the second straight weekend, the Flin Flon Bombers split their games but earned three points. In a pair of home contests, Flin Flon beat Weyburn 4-2 and fell in a shootout 5-4 to the Estevan Bruins.

After more than 65 exciting minutes of hockey, the Flin Flon Bombers got one point - but not two. The Estevan Bruins played the role of spoiler, beating the Bombers 5-4 at the Whitney Forum Saturday night.

Bob Clarke and his famous LCB line are getting back together. In the 1970s and early ’80s, opponents feared the Philadelphia Flyers’ line of Reggie Leach and Clarke, both former Flin Flon Bombers, and Bill Barber.

Hockey is still an important part of life for former Flin Flon Bomber Tyler Stinton. Stinton and his wife Carrie live in Flin Flon with their children Wyatt, 9, and Walker, 5.

After a tough overtime loss last weekend, the Flin Flon Bombers hit the Weyburn Red Wings full force in a dominant 4-2 win. Flin Flon shelled the Weyburn Red Wings with 69 shots in the victory, getting nine power-plays through 60 minutes.
