The Bombers took it to the reigning Canalta Cup champion Melfort Mustangs Wednesday night, beating them 6-3 at the Whitney Forum. The Bombers fired 64 shots at the Melfort net, chasing Mustang goalie Evan Plotnik from the crease late in the third period.
Jason Lavallee and Brandon Lesko both notched two goals and an assist for the Bombers, who have scored points in each of their last five games. Greyson Reitmeier, Rylee Zimmer and team captain Braden Lacoursiere each had multi-point nights for the maroon and white. Wyatt Hinson scored twice for the Mustangs in the loss.
The win draws the Bombers even with Nipawin for the Sherwood division lead. The Bombers will head to Melfort for a rematch against the Mustangs Thursday night.
