Flin Flon and area has been enjoying winter this month, with winter festivals and the Centaloppet enticing folks outdoors with fun and prizes. If you prefer to stay toasty warm, however, there is lots going on inside to keep you entertained.

A Newfoundland folk/pop duo will take to the stage in Flin Flon this Saturday. Singer/guitarist Andrew James O’Brien and singer/pianist/accordion player Catherine Allan form the band Fortunate Ones.

Laughter was on the menu at Hapnot Collegi-ate’s dinner theatre. Students performed Willa Wonkie and the College Tour (Chocolate Not Included) , a zany parody of Willy Wonka , last Wednesday, Feb. 24 and Thursday, Feb. 25.

The Flin Flon Writers Guild launched its latest compilation, Words on the Rocks , at the library on Saturday, Feb. 20. Read a copy to find out what our local poets think, dream, remember and wish.

As I write this, the weather is dull but only -10°C, so I kind of want to tell you to get outside and see the beauty of our natural surroundings.

Artists from northern Manitoba (north of the 53rd parallel) are invited to participate in the 40th annual Northern Juried Art Show. The Pas will host the show April 7 to 9 at the UCN gymnasium. Deadline for entries is Friday, Mar. 18.

Happy New Year! Welcome to a new year of arts and cultural activity in Flin Flon and area. Choir Flin Flon Community Choir kicks off rehearsals again on Saturday, Jan. 9 at École McIsaac School band room.
