Audience will be the fortunate ones as Newfoundland duo performs Saturday

A Newfoundland folk/pop duo will take to the stage in Flin Flon this Saturday. Singer/guitarist Andrew James O’Brien and singer/pianist/accordion player Catherine Allan form the band Fortunate Ones.

A Newfoundland folk/pop duo will take to the stage in Flin Flon this Saturday. 

Singer/guitarist Andrew James O’Brien and singer/pianist/accordion player Catherine Allan form the band Fortunate Ones. The pair will be stopping in Flin Flon on a Manitoba tour that includes Thompson, Neepawa and Portage la Prairie.

The band has received plenty of attention since their debut album, The Bliss, was released in February 2015. They won a 2015 Canadian Folk Music Award for vocal group of the year, were nominated for a Juno for contemporary roots album of the year, and for five East Coast Music Awards including album of the year, group recording of the year, rising star recording of the year, songwriter of the year and song of the year.

The Fortunate Ones will perform at the Flin Flon Community Hall at 7:30 pm on Saturday, Mar. 12. Tickets are available at Northern Rainbow’s End.
