People say that camping is relaxing. I don’t know who these people are, or where they are going camping, but in reality camping is a lot of work. It isn’t without reward though.

It’s a Friday night in Denare Beach, and the music echoes out on the water. Another jam session is well underway.

With the first-ever Blueberry Jam Music Gathering now on the books, attention will turn to Flin Flon’s traditional fall festival: Culture Days. This year’s event, the ninth of its kind to be held in Flin Flon, will take place from Sept. 28 to 30.

It has been a fantastic summer season here in the Flin Flon/Creighton/Denare Beach area with some fabulous summer performances by great performers.

The musicians have left and the Flin Flon Campground has returned to its normal state, but the first Blueberry Jam Music Gathering is still on the minds of organizers.

A day-long visioning session for the Flin Flon Arts Council left members feeling energized and focused. The council holds a visioning session each summer. This year’s session, held on Aug. 6, marked the event’s five-year anniversary.

It’s no yolk – the Joe Brain Petting Zoo is using eggs laid by its chickens and quail to raise money. The three hens at the zoo have been laying a lot of eggs this summer.

The stage is set, the performers are rehearsing and the dance floor is ready to be broken in at the Flin Flon campground. The countdown is on to this weekend’s Blueberry Jam Music Gathering – the first of its kind in Flin Flon.

Flin Flon’s arts scene is looking forward to the city’s first taste of sweet blueberry jam. Preparations for the Blueberry Jam Music Gathering are nearing completion.

Brandy Bloxom’s work was a certified fan favourite, according to northern art aficionados at A Northern Juried Art Exhibition.
