Former Flin Flon Bomber Nathan Waberski is proudly running a business and raising a family in his hometown of Fort St. John, BC. Waberski played as a forward with Flin Flon from 1998 to 2001.

The Flin Flon Bombers displayed their defensive prowess as they opened the SJHL season with a pair of wins. The squad held its Sherwood Division rivals, the Nipawin Hawks, to 43 shots en route to a sweep of a home-and-home series.

The Creighton Kodiaks hope to bolster their playoff chances Thursday following the football club’s first-ever regular season loss. The Kodiaks were missing six players when they fell 39-22 last Thursday, Sept. 15 in Sandy Bay.

At first glance, Samantha Ryan may seem like an average 17-year-old girl. Things change when she gets in the pool. Ryan, a former Flin Flonner, is participating in this summer’s Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The year following a successful season, some sports teams fully embrace what they accomplished while others take the “new season, new team” path. After making a run to the Canalta Cup final, the Flin Flon Bombers are using a hybrid approach.

It’s a collection 60 years in the making. Stew Lloyd been going to Flin Flon Bombers games since about 1956, he says. “Of course you only used to be able to go to the odd game, eh? Because money was tight,” he says.

For players coming to Flin Flon to be part of the Bombers organization, life isn’t just about hockey. During the course of the season, players can be found in schools, at events and working or helping out in local businesses.

For Jane McIntyre, winter means Flin Flon Bombers hockey. This January Jane will turn 95. She has spent countless winter nights of her life at the Whitney Forum, cheering on the Bombers.

While the weather didn’t cooperate, organizers still view this year’s Flin Flon Bomber Golf Tournament as a success. “It went fantastic,” said Tanya Benoit, the team’s marketing coordinator.

There will be plenty for Flin Flon Bomber fans to enjoy this season – and not just on the ice. Every year, club volunteers put together a range of promotions, events and contests for fans at home games.
