More than 150 people from both Manitoba and Saskatchewan filled the R.H. Channing Auditorium on April 13 to discuss the state of health care in Flin Flon.

One of the ways to beat the heat in Flin Flon is unlikely open this summer. The wading pool at Willowvale Park has been tentatively closed for summer 2018 due to repairs.

An agreement between the City of Flin Flon and Northern Bus Lines Limited was ratified during the April 17 meeting of council. The City of Flin Flon recently purchased the Northern Bus Lines garage and buses.

All major winter roads operating in Manitoba have been shut down for the season. The roads have gradually been deemed unsafe for travel since late March.

Change could be coming for the United Steel Workers (USW) in Flin Flon. USW Local 7106 will hold an election April 30 to determine who will fill four seats on the union’s executive, including the post of union president.

One of Flin Flon’s foremost volunteers and education figures has died. Andy Burbidge, a former trustee of the Flin Flon School Division board and a local business owner, died April 20 after a battle with cancer. He was 47 years old.

Two Flin Flonners have split one of the largest contest giveaways ever given out in northern Manitoba, winning more than $1 million combined.
