Seven ambitious Creighton Community School students were honoured at a school assembly this week. Last spring, students applied for the Northern Saskatchewan Student Achievement awards by writing essays documenting their achievements over the year.

The Rotary Club of Flin Flon’s Seniors’ Christmas Party drew about 220 seniors to a festive, fun-filled afternoon at the RH Channing Auditorium last Sunday, Nov. 29.

Residents are invited to commemorate one of Canada’s darkest days this weekend. On Sunday, Dec. 6, at 5:15 pm, the Women’s Resource Centre will host a candle vigil at Pioneer Square.

Police are searching for a missing northern Manitoba woman. Josephine Edna Martin, 58, lives in Moose Lake. She was last seen on the morning of Nov. 15 in The Pas. Martin is described as aboriginal, 5-ft 6-in, 155 lbs with brown hair and brown eyes.

A former Flin Flon Mountie remains suspended with pay months after being sentenced for assaulting a prisoner in 2012. Cst. Jamie O’Brien had pleaded not guilty to one count of assault with a weapon and one count of assault causing bodily harm.
