All rise - Hapnot Collegiate alum Jasmin Ahmad has earned one of British Columbia’s most coveted legal posts. Ahmad was appointed to B.C.’s provincial supreme court Sept. 9, joining the group after an extensive legal career.

No new northern cases of COVID-19 were announced by the province Oct. 6, but the Town of The Pas is advising that a case has been found in the district that includes the town.

Manitoba is now seeing more active cases of COVID-19 than ever before - including in the north. A new case of COVID-19 was announced in the Thompson-Mystery Lake health district, the third such case to be reported during the pandemic.

Another Manitoban has died due to COVID-19. No new cases of the disease have been reported in the north Friday. The person who died, the 21st Manitoban to die from the disease, was a man in his 70s.

All is calm on the northern front for COVID-19 Thursday - 36 new cases in Manitoba, but none in the north. Manitoba health officials announced 36 new cases of the disease Oct. 1, centring mostly around Winnipeg, where 28 cases were announced.

Another COVID-19 case has been found in northern Manitoba - this time, in the Island Lake district near the Ontario border. It is the first such case to be reported in the region, which includes communities such as Wasagamack and St. Theresa Point.
