Is it spring yet? Please let it be spring. Even if the weather is not very cooperative, there are good times to be had at Johnny’s Social Club courtesy of the Local Roots organization.

Word of the Blueberry Jam Music Gathering seems to have spread far and wide. More than 50 acts and over 100 individual musicians have already agreed to perform at this year’s event.

Students took a break from hitting the books at last week’s Flin Flon Heritage Fair.

This is a very exciting weekend for Flin Flon/Creighton/Denare Beach area audiences because the ballet is coming to town. Canada’s Ballet Jörgen, a premier international company from Toronto, will be here on Saturday, March 23 to perform Coppélia.

At the risk of sounding repetitive, there is a lot going on in Flin Flon this weekend. It still amazes that it is still true.

A country music star with Flin Flon connections will come home for one night of shows in May. George Canyon will play at the RH Channing Auditorium, along with country stalwart Charlie Major and Manny Blu, on May 16.

Kari Rutherford’s singing voice can now literally be described as rosy. Rutherford is the latest recipient of the Brandon Festival of the Arts Rose Bowl, the top honour to be bestowed at the festival for vocal performance.

What a whirlwind two weeks we have just had! Ann Hodges, the extraordinary director bringing our Flin Flon and area cast into the (stage) light of Mamma Mia was here to set up the whole stage play.

Entries for Canada’s biggest online music competition have been made public, and Flin Flon is very well represented. Four entries with Flin Flon ties are among the thousands of songs entered in this year’s edition of CBC Searchlight.
