Bargain-hunters, start your engines: the Flin Flon Inner Wheel Club will host its annual Boot Sale this Saturday, June 4.

It’s the end of an era for a community institution. The Orange Toad specialty coffee shop and second-hand bookstore will no longer be accepting books for trade, with plans to drop the book-selling element of the business in the near future.

From where Dustin Boucher sits, volunteerism is hardly on the decline. Boucher, the new president of the Flin Flon Kinsmen Club, says the organization is healthy and eager to continue making contributions.

The Cranberry Portage Emergency Preparedness Team hosted an informational evening on May 12. The purpose of the event was to inform the public about being prepared for major emergencies.

Think globally, act locally. Twenty Hapnot Collegiate students took this oft-repeated phrase to heart when they raised over $1,400 for the Lord’s Bounty Food Bank with a 30-hour famine fundraiser.

Residents are invited to walk from Creighton to Flin Flon in support of addiction recovery. Freedom Outreach, the faith-based live-in rehabilitation centre in Denare Beach, will hold its 2016 Walk-A-Thon fundraiser next Saturday, May 28.

No matter how much weight people are trying to lose, the struggles they face are the same. Rather than battle weight loss on their own, members of Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) have the support of an organization behind them.

As director of education at Creighton School Division, Bob Smith has aimed to support student and staff growth. Now after five years with the division, he is preparing to step down next month.
