MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes will once again turn to veteran backup quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson on Saturday night when they host the BC Lions at Percival Molson Stadium.

The Canadian senior men's football team will face Germany this fall to conclude the inaugural Gridiron Nations Championship. The contest will be played Nov. 16 in Bochum, Germany.

CALGARY — Quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. and the Stampeders had a sense of occasion in Calgary's first "Stampede Bowl" with a 37-16 win over the visiting Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Thursday.

TORONTO — Derek Slywka is paid to break up passes and prevent touchdowns. He also knows what to do when the football is in his hands.

Brady Oliveira is back in the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' starting lineup. The CFL's top player and Canadian last season will start at halfback Thursday night when Winnipeg (3-0) visits the Calgary Stampeders (2-1).

TORONTO — He's currently vying for a roster spot with the Cleveland Browns, but if that doesn't pan out, then Canada could be an option for quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Sanders is one of 45 players on the Toronto Argonauts' negotiation list.

WINNIPEG — Stewart Johnston didn't even need to watch a down of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers game last week to be “blown away” by the experience.

OTTAWA — It was far from pretty, but the Toronto Argonauts finally picked up their first win of the CFL season with a 29-16 victory over the Ottawa Redblacks on Sunday.

REGINA — Big plays, big drives and big games powered the unbeaten Saskatchewan Roughriders to a 37-18 victory Saturday over the B.C. Lions at Mosaic Stadium.
