As MP our I have always made it a top priority to speak out in Parliament about the issues we face in our region.

Earlier this week I made the mistake of reading the comments section. Reading the comment section made me feel like I should have heeded the advice of the dozens of people who have told me, “Don’t ever read the comments section.

One doesn’t have to look very far to see that Flin Flon doesn’t have enough family doctors. Look to the Flin Flon Post It page on Facebook and you’ll find frustrated reports of extensive wait times – averaging more than two weeks in December.

Fashions come and go, even in flowers, including perennials. One perennial that has never gone out of fashion is the peony. There are peony cultivars still popular today that date back to the 1800s.

Talk of tourism is in the air more and more this month as people with their finger on the pulse get ready to put their heads together at a branding session for Flin Flon with Travel Manitoba in February.

There’s a growing disconnect in this country when it comes to the economy. In regions like our north there is an ongoing issue with high rates of unemployment in many Indigenous communities.

This winter, I have been proud of how the members of Flin Flon and surrounding northern communities continue to show their resolve and work ethic by helping those in need however they can, filling the gaps left by the provincial government.

An outstanding perennial for our area is the daylily, Hemerocallis cultivars. In spite of its name it is not a true lily.
