When I think of celebrating our community and what it means to live here, I cannot think of it without thinking of small business.

Flin Flon first made its way into my head when I was a teenager.

It is possible to have fresh herbs all winter if you can provide the right conditions and proper care. There are annual, perennial and even biennial herbs. Sage, rosemary, oregano, garden thyme, chives and mint are some of the perennial herbs.

Dear Editor, I want to commend our MLA, Tom Lindsey, for his efforts to get better health care for our region (“Too few doctors for area: Lindsey,” The Reminder, Sept. 20). He is right that we have too few doctors to look after our needs.

It’s odd how some people dismiss public health measures in Flin Flon as somehow pointless or undesirable because of past air pollution.

Fall has arrived both on the calendar and with cooler days and nights. The trees are changing colour, and the geese and cranes are heading south. If you have not yet planted your fall bulbs, it is time to do so.

Much has been made of the City of Flin Flon’s supposedly unsustainable spending habits. It seems like every time the city upgrades a facility, replaces a sewer pipe or hires a new employee, a chorus of penny-pinchers has something to say about it.

Dear Editor, Re: “Smoky air boosts bear sightings,” The Reminder, Sept. 13. CTV News reported on Sept. 14 that half of Canadian wildlife is in decline due to climate change, pollution, deforestation, poaching, overfishing and hunting, fires, etc.
