We’ve been waiting for seven months, and now it’s finally here – Flin Flon’s new brand.

Fall is a good time to add some trees and shrubs collected from the wild. At one time Manitoba had a pamphlet available about digging and transplanting trees from the side of the highway.

As I start this column, I’m sitting in a hotel room in Yorkton, Sask., on the tail end of a whirlwind but wonderful vacation loop that spanned three provinces. My partner and I were about half an hour outside of Yorkton when we had some car trouble.

Last year, Flin Flon took a big, bold, rainbow step into modern times when it hosted its first ever Pride celebrations.

Sometimes there’s interesting stuff on Facebook that leads me to research something I had never seen (or noticed) before. A recent Flin Flon post showed a photograph of webbing in a mountain ash.

Blueberry Jam Music Gathering was the stuff legends are made of. I know this, because I spend a lot of time talking to Flin Flonners.

While Flin Flon made national headlines last week for arrests made in town, this week community spirit is alive and well, thanks to the many people who dedicate their time to volunteer service.

Drought last summer, followed by hail and an overabundance of rain this summer, could be an indication that we are in for more extreme weather in the future.

Earlier this week the Flin Flon Post It Facebook page was removed by its administrators after racist, violent and hateful comments were shared across it.

As more information comes to light about the effects the end of Greyhound bus services will have on Flin Flon, the more it seems residents will have to rally hard if they want the service to continue. Kasper Transportation, a Thunder Bay, Ont.
