A Flin Flon man is beginning a now annual drive to provide help for people suffering with schizophrenia. For the sixth consecutive summer, Ray Berg will be raising funds for the Manitoba Schizophrenia Society (MSS) Journey of Hope.

Up to $5,000 available for individual groups

The debate will take place at Flin Flon City Hall.

Water in Denare Beach is safe to drink again after a Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory was lifted. The advisory was rescinded on July 17, according to a letter from Mahdi Kowsari of the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency.

Creighton RCMP had a busy June, but statistics from the department show a huge decrease in overall calls from last year. Eighty-seven calls were made to RCMP from Denare Beach, Creighton and Sturgeon Landing in June, a sharp decline from a year ago.

Flin Flon residents may soon pay more for water and sewer services. A proposed new bylaw from Flin Flon’s city council regarding water supply and sewage services includes increases for the service in each of the next three years.

Northern Growing Abilities held their first annual meeting June 26, saying their first year of incorporation gave mixed results. Amber Beaton was named the new chairperson for the group at the meeting.
