Dave Price has a bit of a spotty voting record. He has been living in Canada and Flin Flon since 1970, but having grown up in the U.K. and not being a Canadian citizen, he never had a chance to cast a ballot as a Canadian.

Dozens of students who died while attending residential schools near Flin Flon were part of a mass remembrance in Gatineau, Que. Sept. 30. A 50-metre long bright red banner contained the names of Indigenous children from across Canada.

The Flin Flon Public Library will be closed beginning Oct. 21 while new floors are installed. Courtney Campbell, the library’s administrator, said the closure is anticipated to last until Nov. 15. “It’s time,” she said.

Crime appears to be going down in Creighton and Denare Beach. The detachment received 83 calls total from Creighton, Denare Beach and Sturgeon Landing throughout September.

The staff at Creighton Community School will be getting a little bigger over the next year, courtesy of a grant through a federal government program aiming to assist First Nations youth.

Chase and Easton Haygarth chose an appropriate night to have their best game of the season. The twin brothers combined for six points, and the Flin Flon Bombers celebrated family night with a 5-1 win over the Melville Millionaires on Oct. 19.

The Creighton Community School Kodiaks have won the Northern Saskatchewan six on six football championship. The Kodiaks defeated the Cumberland House Islanders by a final score of 46-38.

The NorVA Centre is in the running for a major nationwide prize. Flin Flon’s largest centre for visual arts has been nominated for the Lacey Prize, a biannual award meant to recognize artist-run spaces and galleries across Canada.
