Introduce yourself to the public.

I was born and raised in Creighton and moved to Moose Jaw to pursue my education in business marketing. I then moved to Edmonton, where I began my 20-year career in banking.

In 2004, my wife Brenna and I moved back home to raise our three boys and begin my transition to manager of the Flin Flon Credit Union. Since being home, I’ve enjoyed being active in the local Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club at the member level and in executive positions.

What is the single biggest challenge facing Creighton and what would you do to address this challenge?

I think economic development, specifically the development of a second industry for our area, has been the biggest challenge for a very long time. I think the Town has a strong history of seeking and engaging other industries, and I think we have to remain determined in pursuing options and cooperating with all regional partners to be successful.

I also believe it is important that although we are open to cooperation that Creighton tax dollars are not simply funnelled to other communities and that Creighton tax dollars are always accompanied by Creighton’s input and oversight.

What is your long-term vision for Creighton?

I feel that Creighton can continue to be the “community of choice” in our area with our recreation facilities, lower property taxes, recent lot development and affordable living costs.

All of these things depend on our area remaining economically strong, and I envision that being accomplished through the development of a diversified economy made up of a few small- to medium-sized industries to complement mining.

What do you believe makes you qualified to sit on council?

I think we have a strong slate of qualified candidates in this election. I believe my experience working with boards and the provincial levels of Chamber and the Credit Union system could be helpful to the next council.

I have a strong interest in economic development and have taken opportunities to participate on committees involving the subject over the past 10 years. I believe I am diligent, creative, level-headed and, like all of the candidates running, I would work hard for this community that I care for deeply.
