What would be your top priorities if elected?
My top priority would be to try to resolve the issues with the foul sewer gas smell associated with the line from Mosher Lake. The engineering is doing a cost for two options and it needs to be carried forward. Keeping taxes low is also a priority of mine.
Crime has become a major concern for many Denare Beach residents. As a councillor, how would you approach this issue?
I currently sit on the Protection Committee involved with this issue. In the several meetings we have had, the one issue that concerns the police as well as the other groups who deal with young offenders is the lack of a social worker in the Creighton / Denare Beach area.
There were two social workers in this area before, who would deal with youth. There is a definite need to have at least one in the area as the closest one is in Nipawin. It is now a matter of convincing the current government that the decision to not renew both positions was a mistake.
What skills would you bring to village council?
I have sat on several committees in the past seven years as well as the financial committee. I have a construction background and enjoy sitting on project committees. We have a village with a growing young population, and managing finances while keeping the village a place where young and old can enjoy is very important to me.
