Warning: This week’s column is written about the residential school system and features accounts of violence, child abuse and death.

So, we’re back under restrictions again and the third wave is in Manitoba. This sucks. It feels like deja vu - we’ve been here before, it hasn’t been fun and we hoped we wouldn’t be here again.

Since they’ve taken office, the Pallister government’s funding for our schools has declined when you take into account inflation and our rising student population. This decrease has caused schools to make hard decisions about what to cut.

I am one lucky son-of-a-gun. By the time you read this, barring some sort of horrific problem or scheduling error, I will be one of the more than 400,000 people in Manitoba who has received a COVID-19 vaccine.

Let’s talk vaccines - again.

This government continues to demonstrate a complete lack of respect for northern Manitobans.

Dear Editor, With the release of the K-12 education review and the introduction of Bill 64 this past week, this government has decimated our public school system.

Let’s talk about something other than COVID-19 here this week, okay? Let’s talk about the biggest thing impacting the online world this past week.

Have you started planning your garden yet? Since COVID-19 hit, more people have started gardens to enjoy this outdoor activity, to grow a few vegetables or just to enhance their outdoor space for “staycations”.

This week, I’m not going to use this space to condemn Niki Ashton. I am going to discuss her recent voyage to Greece - along with several other trips out of country by other politicians - but I’m going to do so like a grown-up.
