Allan Brian Bassham
- ( Aug 31, 1957 - Nov 23, 2013 )
Al passed away unexpectedly at his home in Snow Lake on Nov. 23, 2013. He was pre deceased by his parents, May and Reg Bassham. He will be greatly missed by his son Michael, daughter Lisa(Trevor) and his grandchildren Ryder, Ethan, Kai, and Grayson and wife Bev Bassham, as well as brother Reg( Deb) and sisters Joan ( Barry), Wanda(Curt) and Connie(Roland) and his nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his friend Meryl Cheyne with whom he lived in Snow Lake. As well, he’ll be missed by his many friends, co workers and business associates.
Al was born and raised in Flin Flon. He followed in his dad’s footsteps becoming a miner at the HBM&S at the age of 18. By his mid 20’s he had been promoted to foreman. He eventually left the HBM&S and went on to carry out mine management responsibilities in various parts of the world and to invest in and operate some of his own mining ventures. Al was a tremendously hard worker and dedicated himself to the knowledge and administration of mining and its related operations. He was an intelligent individual and when he developed kidney disease about 4 years ago he studied and became very knowledgeable about the disease. Soon after he was certified in home hemo-dialysis and was one of only a few patients in Manitoba that were allowed to dialyze at home. Throughout his suffering he never complained. He always exemplified a positive attitude wherever he went. Above all he had the most wonderful sense of humor. He could make you cry with laughter and cry we will. He will be fondly remembered by all.
There will be a celebration of his life held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 73 Hapnot Street, Flin Flon, Mb at 1pm Thursday Dec 5, 2013, and at The Royal Canadian Legion, 104 Elm Street, Snow Lake, Mb at 1 pm, Friday Dec 6, 2013.
