As Manitoba moves closer to the second phase of its reopening plan, no new cases of COVID-19 were detected May 29. The province will enter phase two June 1, with most businesses and activities allowed to resume, albeit with restrictions.

Two new cases found in Sask. - one in south, one in Saskatoon

The board of the Northern Health Region will have a new local representative. Dianne Russell was one of three new appointments to the regional health authority's board, according to a provincial announcement May 29.

RCMP are looking for a suspect after two people were stabbed in Cranberry Portage last weekend. Police arrived at a home in Cranberry Portage around 3:40 a.m. May 23 and found a 26-year-old male and a 40-year-old female stabbed inside.

Two new cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan were reported by the province Thursday - one in Saskaoon and one in the north. Nine new recoveries of the disease were also reported by the provincial government in a May 28 daily news briefing.

Flin Flon RCMP are looking for help from the public in solving a stabbing and an assault earlier this week. Police were called to a home on Terrace Avenue on the evening of May 25 for a possible stabbing.

RCMP and workers at a community checkpoint in Pelican Narrows spelled doom for a trio of suspected bootleggers May 21, caught allegedly trying to transport more than 30 litres of alcohol into town.

Two more people have died from COVID-19 in Saskatchewan due to COVID-19. Both were elders from the far north region. The provincial government announced the deaths May 27. The two people were a person in their 60s and a person in their 80s.

While Manitoba moves toward the next stage of a COVID-19 reopening plan, most restrictions around northern travel will remain in place.

Manitoba will attempt to return to life as we knew it June 1. The province will move into phase two of a Manitoba-wide reopening plan on Monday. Premier Brian Pallister announced the next stage of the plan at a news conference May 27.
