COVID-19 has once again packed its bags and left the Flin Flon district. No active cases of the disease are listed in the Flin Flon/Snow Lake/Cranberry Portage/Sherridon district Feb. 17, according to provincial government data.

Another day of good news on the COVID-19 front for Flin Flon - cases stayed in the double digits province-wide and the district covering Flin Flon is down to one active case.

Rates of new COVID-19 infections are dropping throughout Manitoba, including in northern communities. The province reported only 57 net new cases Wednesday, with province-wide five-day test positivity rates dropping down to 5.2 per cent.

Some health orders and restrictions affecting Manitoba, including the north, will be eased starting Friday. The province announced the changes Feb. 9, going into effect Feb. 12.

Flin Flon RCMP have arrested a 19-year-old man after a brief hostage situation Sunday evening. RCMP received a report around 5:40 p.m. Feb. 7 of an armed man inside an apartment with a female and an infant inside he was refusing to allow leave.
