SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Brandon Crawford grew up in the Bay Area as a San Francisco Giants fan. He wound up playing 13 seasons for the Giants, helping them win two World Series titles.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Steven Kwan hit a tiebreaking single in the sixth inning, lifting the Cleveland Guardians over the Boston Red Sox 5-4 on Saturday in a doubleheader opener for their sixth win in seven games.

DETROIT (AP) — Spencer Torkelson hit his eighth homer, Javier Báez had three hits from the ninth spot in the batting order and the Detroit Tigers defeated the Baltimore Orioles 4-3 in the first game of a day-night doubleheader on Saturday.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The Chicago White Sox acquired infielder Gage Workman in a trade with the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. The White Sox sent cash to the Cubs for Workman, who was designated for assignment on Wednesday.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins acquired infielder Kody Clemens from the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers placed center fielder Garrett Mitchell on the 10-day injured list Saturday. After an MRI, Mitchell was diagnosed with a left oblique strain. Mitchell started in right field Friday night.

NEW YORK (AP) — Saturday’s game between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees was postponed because of heavy rain and the forecast of sustained inclement weather.
