The Norman bantam AAA Wolves will wrap up their season with a pair of games in Flin Flon this weekend, the team’s first Flin Flon games of the year. The Wolves will play a pair of home games against the Central Plains Capitals.

Northern Manitoba’s top bantam team have had a rough go so far this year, losing all but one of their 34 games this season. The team’s lone win came Jan. 11 against the Central Plains Capitals, the same club the Wolves will play twice this week.

The confines of the Whitney Forum have been kind to the Wolves. The Wolves also played their last two regular season games in Flin Flon last year, splitting a weekend series with the Southwest Cougars.

Six Flin Flon area players are on the Wolves’ roster this season - forwards Joey Lies, Nole Pearson and Conner Slugoski, affiliate player Evan Reid and goalies Paxton Moore and Logan Salamondra.

Lies, the captain of this year’s squad, leads the team nearly all offensive categories, including goals, assists and points. Lies has factored in on more than half of Norman’s goals this season and has scored more goals this year (20) than any of his teammates have points.

Moore and Salamondra have played every minute in net for the Wolves this year, often splitting the crease - a difficult feat for a team that has given up nearly eight and a half goals per game on average. Salamondra has played slightly more minutes this season and is credited with the teams’ sole win.

The two games will take place at the Whitney Forum Feb. 15 at 4 p.m. and Feb. 16 at 11:30 a.m.
