Next season’s schedule has been released for the Creighton Kodiaks.

The Kodiaks will start their season with their longest road trip of the year, playing an away game against the Pinehouse Lakers Sept. 11. The club will cover more than 900 kilometres in order to play the game.

Creighton’s first of two regular season home games will take place Sept. 18, with the Kodiaks facing off against the rival Sandy Bay T-Wolves. The Kodiaks will hope to avenge last year’s home opener game against Sandy Bay, which ended in a 38-12 Creighton loss, one of two defeats last year’s team suffered.

The other loss came against the team Creighton will face in their third game - the Cumberland House Islanders. The Kodiaks will travel to Cumberland House for their matchup Sept. 25. The Islanders have won the Northern Saskatchewan Football League title the past two seasons, winning the 2017 title by beating the Kodiaks in the Ralph Pilz Northern Championship game in Prince Albert. The Islanders went undefeated last season.

Creighton will close out the regular season with a matchup at home against Pinehouse Oct. 2.

After each team has played four games, two play-down games will take place – one on Oct. 8 for the number one and four seeds, with another game Oct. 9 between seeds two and three. The winners of these games will face off in the Ralph Pilz championship game Oct. 19 in Prince Albert.

Northern Saskatchewan football teams will begin training this fall.
