There’s something nearly every night of the week in Flin Flon to help keep adults physically active.
City of Flin Flon recreation programmer Cait Bailey says there are activities from Monday through Thursday for all levels.
The programs are open to those 18 years and older with a drop-in fee or full registration fee payable.
Adults are welcome to the different programs, including tennis on Mondays in the Many Faces Education Centre gymnasium.
Many Faces hosts drop-in volleyball Tuesday evenings while École McIsaac School hosts Club Volleyball on Wednesdays with set teams competing against each other.
Wednesdays are also busy as drop-in dodgeball is offered at Many Faces.
Badminton is the last recreational activity of the week out of the programs open for drop-ins, held Thursdays at McIsaac.
Flin Flon Parks and Recreation brought Pickleball Manitoba to town to introduce the sport to the community with hopes of it being added to the roster of local programs.
The September clinic brought roughly 25 participants and the sport continues to draw interest from all ages.
Bailey says there isn’t space at the present time for pickleball to be developed, but work is underway to have the new program running as soon as possible.
The issue lies with available space. Ideally, Bailey says, they would like to run a daytime program of pickleball at the Flin Flon Community
Hall, but there are scheduling conflicts.
Following a pickleball clinic held earlier this fall, the city received equipment to use as loaner pieces for a few months.
Bailey is currently working toward ordering equipment for Parks and Recreation to have its own supplies.
