The SJHL-MJHL Showcase later this month will be full of Bomber talent.

In total, nine Flin Flon Bomber players will head to Regina for the annual showcase for some of the league’s top players.

Forwards Zach Bannister, Chase Haygarth, Easton Haygarth and Donavan Houle-Villeneuve and defenders Dane Hirst, Mason Martin and Troy Quinn were named to Team Mitchell, the showcase team for players on northern and central Saskatchewan-based teams.

In addition, forward Tristan Lemyre will play on Team Schwartz, the club for top prospects born in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Forward Jaeden Mercier will also play for Team Schwartz, replacing injured Melville Millionaire Nic Porterfield. Bomber head coach and GM Mike Reagan will be one of the team’s coaches, teaming up with Estevan Bruins bench boss Greg Lewgood.

Former Bomber goalie Matt Sankner, traded to the Kindersley Klippers earlier this year for Hirst, will be one of the team’s goalies.

The nine Bombers in the showcase have combined for 273 points between them this season. The group is headlined by Houle-Villeneuve, who has 50 points in 33 games.

Out of the SJHL’s top 10 scorers, only a handful - La Ronge’s Daylon Mannon, Humboldt’s Luke Spadafora, Houle-Villeneuve, Battlefords’ Rylan Nivon and Quintin Loon-Stewardson and Yorkton Terrier Jordan Guiney - are in the lineups. Top Bomber scorers Alec Malo and Cole Rafuse, along with SJHL top scorer Chantz Petruic, are not on the rosters for the tournament. All three have played major junior hockey and are ineligible to play NCAA hockey without an appeal.
