The Flin Flon Bombers have announced their first signing of the offseason - local player and Norman Northstars captain Jordan Pfoh.
Pfoh's deal was announced by the team June 2. The 17-year-old player grew up in Flin Flon and played in the Flin Flon Minor Hockey Association system. Pfoh attended the last two Bomber training camps.
"We are very happy to sign Jordan. I think it's great for the community to have a local player sign with the Bombers," said Bombers head coach and general manager Mike Reagan.
"He had a great career with Norman and we are looking forward to his next chapter with us."
For the past three seasons, Pfoh has played for the Thompson-based Northstars U18 AAA team, playing in 142 games total after debuting at age 15. Pfoh still has one year of U18 eligibility left.
Originally playing as a defenceman, Pfoh was put up as a forward with the Northstars last season and was named the team's captain. Pfoh finished the season with 20 goals and 50 points in 47 games - good enough to lead the team in scoring. Before the position switch, Pfoh led the Northstars in scoring by a defenceman both as a 15-year-old and as a 16-year-old in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Last year's Northstars squad may have only won five games on the season, but that wasn't from a lack of effort from Pfoh - in their five wins last season, Pfoh tallied a whopping 17 points.
If Pfoh goes on to play a regular shift with the Bombers, he will be the first Flin Flon born and trained player to suit up with the Bombers since Evan Akkerman did in 2014-15. Former Bomber Isaac Jackson was born and raised in Flin Flon, but moved away to Warman, Sask. before joining the team from 2016-2019. Jackson's hometown was considered to be Warman by the SJHL.
