Matt Flodell got the fun going two minutes in, scoring a goal shortly after winning a faceoff. Alec Malo and Donavan Houle-Villeneuve added powerplay goals in the final minutes of the period, making it 3-0 at the break.

Tristan Lemyre made it 4-0 with the only goal in the second period. The Bombers made it a rout in the third period, with Jaeden Mercier, Chase Haygarth and Dane Hirst finding the net - Alec Malo also added a pair of goals, earning his first SJHL hat-trick.

Bomber goalie Jacob Delorme earned his first shutout as a Bomber, making 29 saves. Melfort goalies Tanner Martin and Shawn Parkinson split the crease, with Martin being chased out after one period. Martin made 11 saves, while Parkinson made 28, giving up six goals.

The Bombers' recent acquirees - goalie Cal Schell and forwards Zach Bannister and Hayden Clayton - did not play Saturday. Schell served as Delorme's backup, while the two forwards did not dress.

While the Bombers still sit second in the SJHL with 55 points, a surging Yorkton Terriers roster snuck back into the hunt for second place with a 2-1 overtime win against Estevan, putting them third in the league with 54 points. The Bombers remain tops in the Sherwood division, ahead of La Ronge's 49 points and both Melfort and Nipawin, tied at 48 each.
