Never count out the Flin Flon Bombers - the club staged a massive third-period comeback to win their ninth-straight contest in overtime.

After going down 4-1 after 20 minutes, the Bombers battled back, earning a 6-5 overtime win.

Ryder Richmond gave the Bombers an early lead with his second of the season, but the Stars struck hard in response. Dayton Heino scored twice, along with goals by Austin Shumanski and Braydon Buziak. Bomber goalie Gabriel Waked was pulled after giving up three goals on 14 shots, lasting barely 10 minutes in the Bomber crease.

In the second period, the Bombers started to reawaken. Brandson Hein cut the lead to two with a Bomber goal, but Ryan Gil responded moments later to give Battlefords a 5-2 lead.

The tide turned in the third period. Caleb Moretz got the team back on the scoresheet 90 seconds into the period. Hein scored his second of the contest shorthanded in the third, his 38th goal of the campaign, cutting the Stars' lead to just one. Then, late in the third period, Bomber captain Nate Hooper tied the game up with minutes remaining, forcing overtime and clinching at least a point for the Bombers.

Flin Flon wouldn't just get one point, however. Halfway through three-on-three OT, Hein found Hooper, who scored the game-winner, finishing a four goal comeback and getting mobbed by his teammates as a reward.

Jacob Delorme would get credit for the win in the Bomber crease, making 26 saves and settling the team down. Joel Grzybowski was pelted in the Stars' net, making 43 saves.

The Bombers have become the second team in the SJHL to break the 60 point barrier, joining division rivals Nipawin. The team now sits second in the SJHL's overall points race, ranked fourth overall behind the three division leaders.

Flin Flon will face off against Nipawin on the road on Jan. 29 in a battle between the SJHL's two top teams. The Bombers will hit the Whitney Forum ice again on Feb. 1, when the Notre Dame Hounds come to town.
