Flin Flon Bomber fans, mark your calendars. After a one year hiatus, the customary preseason showdown between the Flin Flon Bombers and OCN Blizzard is back.

The SJHL released the preseason schedule for all 12 teams June 26, including a four-game swing for the Bombers.

Flin Flon’s preseason grind begins Sept. 1 with the Bombers heading to Nipawin for a showdown with the Hawks. The two teams face each other every preseason, with both sides typically icing rosters full of rookies and prospects.

After a couple days away from game action, the Bombers will host the MJHL’s Swan Valley Stampeders Sept. 4, then will face the Hawks again at the Whitney Forum Sept. 6.

The Bombers will have their final preseason matchup against the Blizzard Sept. 7, facing their northern adversaries for the first time in two years. Despite being each others’ closest geographical rivals and playing in the same province, the Blizzard and Bombers only meet in preseason games due to each being in separate leagues.

The two sides typically play a home-and-home series against each other every fall, but the series did not take place last year after Blizzard management deemed holding the series clashed with the team’s training camp schedule.

While the SJHL has not released a full regular season schedule for the upcoming season, the season traditionally starts in mid-September.
