Scuba-diving Male Drowns at Lake Diefenbaker

Police are investigating after a tragic drowning occurred at Lake Diefenbaker this past weekend that took the life of a 46-year old man.

At approximately 11:30 am on Sunday, November 25, Outlook RCMP along with local EMS and STARS Air Ambulance were dispatched to a reported drowning on Lake Diefenbaker near the Danielson Provincial Park west-side boat launch.

A 46-year old male was located who was deceased. The victim had been participating in a recreational scuba dive with three friends approximately 200 yards from shore, when he lost contact with his fellow divers. The man was located in the water a short time later. Unfortunately, CPR efforts failed to revive him.

The man's death is not being considered suspicious, and police say that alcohol/drug impairment was not a factor.

The investigation remains ongoing with assistance from the Saskatchewan Coroner's Service.

The man's name has not been released.
