The change took effect Nov. 21 as the company solidifies its position in the North Montney ahead of the construction of LNG Canada in Kitimat.

The company has already changed its signs at its office and yard on the Airport Road in Fort St. John.

"Changing our name from Progress Energy to Petronas Canada is a reflection of our parent company’s commitment to Canada," said Mark Fitzgerald, president and CEO.

"I am extremely proud to be part of this global company and am excited about the great future ahead as we drive innovations to provide clean Canadian energy to the world."

Fitzgerald will be in Fort St. John on Tuesday, Nov. 27, to talk about the company's development plans for the region.
