Trevor Miller Having recently moved back to Flin Flon from Saskatoon, I would say that generally, with the exception of the availability of specialists, our health-care service is on par with the big city. Thankfully we haven't had to use it much since we've moved up here, but whenever we've had to take our son in for a check-up or needed to see a doctor, there hasn't been a drop-off in quality of service we've received. Perhaps a walk-in clinic in a more convenient location would be nice, but in a city this size it's not like anything is unreasonably far away. Ken Mansell Things are much better now and I give much of the credit to our new CEO. The new clinic is OK but it was not really the old clinic that was the problem. Too bad we now have such a larger area in our health region with Thompson to serve as well. A four-hour drive from one end to the other takes away valuable time for staff who must travel, especially now that there is no air or bus service. Also too bad the hospital emergency ramp is not being used for vehicles with emergency trips, and the elevators are not as easy too use when time is of the essence. Denny Hyndman Our 'implement now and ask later' system is successful, did we have an alternative? I expect the current system is doing the best it can on tight budgets, antiquated equipment and possible lack of specialists. There are still a lot of people who do not have a GP, still those who will travel for treatment and some claim excellent care here. It is very exciting to have the possibility of upgrades to the ER. If it enhances patient comfort and workplace environments, it has got to be considered a step forward.
