Trevor Miller The town is selling the lots for below their development costs, and for someone moving back up here from the Saskatoon housing market, $60,000 for a lot in a new development sounds like a steal. I think it sounds like a good idea for Creighton's long-term development. Selling them for less means many more years before the town makes back its investment from creating the lots. I think they've struck a good balance. Ken Mansell I think not. Remember when the north end of Collins was extended? The lots were $13,000 and no one was interested. The price dropped eventually and many 1.5 and doubles were bought. This is not Saskatoon, it is a struggling one-industry mining town. When shopping for a home there are lots of options on existing properties, many with very nice existing houses on them. This proposed new street is now really just a swamp beside a big rock ridge. If these lots have to be discounted to sell, it is going to be an expensive bill. If the Creighton councillors had to spend their own money on this development, I doubt it would even be considered. Denny Hyndman Well, Dr. Seuss taught me that you can never tell what some people will buy! Some people will commit to investing in new property just as some will balk at the price tag most likely. I am not a resident, but I hear most living in Creighton are satisfied with council decisions and input. What makes people nervous is the 'recouping' of cost from taxpayers in relation to development. Taxes suck and things never seem to get cheaper. If council believes that there is a need, it's only appropriate the Town of Creighton explore the options for their community members.
