When I took my son to the hospital with what turned out to be a minor infection easily handled with antibiotics, the ER doctor took one look and decided that surgery or a painful procedure were the only viable options.
Fortunately, the surgeon on call was a competent doctor and disagreed, so my toddler didn’t have to get cut, but when I had suggested antibiotics during the first doctor’s diagnosis, I was quickly dismissed.
Until now, the medical care my family has received has been good to excellent, but this is a glaring indication of how in need of a tune up some parts of our system are.

What is bugging me right now is the idea that the Manitoba government and the city are contemplating more housing at Aspen Grove.
Why do we need more low-end housing? What about our seniors? Are they not the people we wish to attract to our town, or at least keep here.
We appear unwilling to handle the social issues existing in our town now. Can we really tolerate more, should subsidized housing become a reality?
Can our ailing infrastructure handle more housing in this particular area. I am inclined to doubt it.
I think government should give their head a shake and as a community we should oppose this idea with all we got.

I finally got an appointment with my doctor at the clinic for today after six weeks of waiting.
Got a call yesterday telling me he was called out but I could have another in three weeks. I was told to go to the walk-in clinic and wait if I wanted.
So I went in at 9:45 as told and reported at the desk, then was told it was full. I asked if my doctor was working today and was told he was booked also.
How can that be? I got annoyed and then was told to come in this Friday, suddenly there was a cancellation available.
